09:00 – 09:30
Children are welcomed by our friendly teachers and other children. The children are welcome to settle in with a free choice of play in our beautiful nursery.
*Morning club (08:30 – 09:30) is available as an additional option. Please enquire for more details.
09:30 – 09:45
We begin our day with an assembly, where children gather in a circle as we sing a short song and greet each other. The next portion of the assembly is led by one of the children (changing each day), and (with help and support of a teacher) is given the following responsibilities:
The morning assembly is followed by fun teacher led morning exercise (warm-up calisthenics/rajio taisō) to the tune of music, which lasts 3 minutes. Morning exercise is followed by topic discussions and general sharing.
Children then have the opportunity to use the toilet.
10:00 – 11:30
Children are then given activities to do based on planned themes (as shown in the annual calendar) or are given the liberty to follow their interests as teachers scaffold their learning with a balance of adult-led and child initiated fun activities.
In addition to this, our children regularly partake in outdoor play in our forest school, which is complemented by short trips (post office, shopping etc) and long trips (fruit picking, aquarium, fire/police station, museums etc).
11:30 – 12:30
Children have time to go to the toilet, wash their hands and prepare for lunch.
We sing a short song of gratitude before enjoying our healthy lunch (with the current COV-19 situation, we ask for each child to bring their own nutritious and healthy packed lunch).
After lunch, it is cleaning time. We believe it is important to teach children the value of a clean environment and so give each child a task in cleaning. We make this fun by adding narration and music.
Hygiene and life skills are important to us at Miyabi, so our children bring their own toothbrush and cup and we teach them how to brush their teeth after lunch. They have another opportunity to use the toilet if they need to.
To keep the children energised we do provide healthy fruit snacks throughout the day*.
*hands are always washed before eating snacks and snacks are never shared between children, but prepared for individual use.
12:45 – 14:30
Our afternoon sessions include a balance of adult-led and child initiated activities, which may be based on an theme of the day/week. We also allow children to choose their activities and introduce them to a range of different learning experiences.
In addition to this, our team of in-house sports coaches (football, tennis, netball, rugby) offer a range of sporting activities (at no extra cost) for our children to take part in on a weekly basis. This usually takes place outdoors on our vast 23-acre field with purpose built football, rugby and athletic pitches and indoors in the spacious Great Hall (during bad weather).
14:30 – 14:45
At the end of the day, we have a leaving assembly/gathering which includes:
Children who are not staying for afterschool clubs are picked up by their parents.
14:55 – 16:00
We simply love educating children on the importance of learning new skills, and thus provide a number of clubs which range from academia (maths/science club), expressive arts (dance, drama), design (origami, arts and crafts), sports (tennis, football, rugby) and are decided upon both by the season and the general consensus of the parents.
