Weekly Curriculum 8 November 2021
The children have made an excellent start to the second half of this term which will take us all the way up to the Christmas holidays!
Personal Social and Emotional Development
Over the next two weeks we will be exploring the value of ‘friendship’ and ‘kindness’. We will be particularly focusing on how we can make sure all of our classmates at Miyabi feel included and happy, this is something we already think the children are very good at! We will be exploring different acts of kindness, whether that is kindness to people, animals or our environment.
Communication and Language
Thank you so much to everyone who has shared photographs and experiences that your child has had at home via the
‘Parent Blossom App’, we have loved seeing them so please continue to upload them! Over the next two weeks we will be exploring different festivals as well as the Japanese theatre ‘Noh’, Origami Day as well as World Nursery Rhyme week. We will be teaching the children some traditional nursery rhymes which we are sure they will share with you at home!
We are going to be exploring using scissors safely over the coming weeks. We will be thinking about safe ways to hold
and carry them so that we don’t get hurt and we will be continuing to practise making snips using different types of scissors. We will be encouraging the children to visit the creative area independently to work on their scissor skills.
We will be learning about festivals and special occasions over the next two weeks. We expect we will hear all about
birthdays, Christmas and Halloween. We will keep working on our writing skills as we listen to firework sounds and try to write words like ‘pop’ and ‘whoosh’ using our prewriting shapes like zig zags and circles.
We will be exploring capacity and what it means if a container is full, nearly full, half full, nearly empty or empty.
Phonics Children aged 3 and above will continue to learn a new sound each week. We have been recapping the three sounds that we learnt before half term, these were: ‘s’ ‘a’ ‘t’ and now we will be moving onto ‘p’ ‘i’. There are some excellent parent support videos on the Little Wandle website that will support you in how to pronounce sounds accurately. www.littlewandlelettersandsounds.org.uk/resources/for-parents/
Thank you for your support!
